About Us

Sheffield Domestic Abuse Forum

Sheffield Domestic Abuse Forum is a multi-agency partnership of voluntary and statutory sector agencies working together to combat domestic abuse by:

  • Promoting strategic work to achieve a consistent, co-ordinated response to domestic abuse, and a systematic reduction in levels, throughout the city.
  • Raising public and professional awareness of the realities and effects of domestic abuse through training, information resources and public education campaigns.
  • Supporting the development and delivery of a comprehensive range of specialist domestic abuse services in the voluntary sector.
  • Delivering 2 of those services directly ~ the Domestic Abuse Floating Support Service and the Step by Step children's group work programme.

The Forum is a charitable company, with a multi-agency Management Committee and 6 members of staff (2005). The different pages on our website will give you a flavour of the work that we are involved in, but please feel free to contact us with any specific requests.

People often request copies of our handy contact cards, which condense the contact details for all the key support services into a purse sized card. These can be posted in small quantities, or collected from our office on London Road, but please ring us first.

Membership

Membership of the Forum is free, and open to any agency or individual whose work ~ paid or unpaid ~ brings you into contact with domestic abuse. Once on our database you receive occasional mailings, with information about local and national developments in relation to domestic abuse, details of our training and networking events and of the themed Domestic Abuse Working Groups. Now that we have a website, we aim to move over to an electronic mailing system in the future to save time and resources.
