* See Me, Hear Me is for people who work directly with children and young people. Applicants must attend Domestic Abuse Awareness before attending See Me, Hear Me.

To ensure a good multi-agency mix and a range of professional perspectives, we limit places to two people from any one organisation. If you would like lots of staff to attend, you can speak to us about commissioning a tailored course. Training is delivered by Sheffield Women Against Violence Trainers (SWAVT), our freelance pool of specialist trainers. Our multi-agency courses are free because the NHS funds us to train Sheffield workers to recognise domestic abuse and to improve their responses to adults and children experiencing it.

Confirmation of places will be sent out before each event.

Domestic Abuse Awareness and Multi-Agency working.

SDAF has been running Domestic Abuse Awareness training since it was set up in the mid-nineties.

Domestic Abuse Awareness Course Aims:

  • to raise awareness of the realities and effects of domestic abuse
  • to help workers to develop their skills and confidence in developing early and effective responses to domestic abuse
  • to identify resources available in the city to support their work
  • to promote the importance of continuous risk assessment and safety planning, and working together with other agencies.

See Me, Hear Me~ working with children & young people affected by abuse

See Me, Hear Me is our new course developed by SWAVT in an NSPCC-funded pilot and now being commissioned by several Sheffield Service Districts and children's organisations. It is an emotionally demanding course for people who work directly with children and who have already done Domestic Abuse Awareness training.

See Me, Hear Me Course Aims:

  • recognise and respond to the needs of children & young people affected by domestic abuse
  • develop creative ways to enable children to communicate about their feelings
  • feel more confident, skilled and resourceful about dealing with children's trauma and their experiences
